That Which Remains
The Eric H. Holder Jr. Initiative for Civil and Political Rights at Columbia College is excited to announce That Which Remains (TWR), a student-led creative writing publication dedicated to advancing the cause of justice through the arts. TWR provides a platform for conversation, meditation, education, and healing. Through poetry, prose, and visual art, this journal seeks to amplify creative works that unpack the social, political, gender, and racial injustices experienced while living in the United States.
This year, we will publish the first edition of TWR for which we will be accepting submissions of previously unpublished poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction/essays. We believe that sharing diverse voices and perspectives can lead to a better understanding of our individual and collective human experience, one that requires a process of learning and unlearning in hopes of forming radical unity. Therefore, we invite all perspectives, demographics, and walks of life to submit to TWR. For the inaugural edition, the submission deadline is September 27, 2020. For subsequent editions, we will accept submissions on a rolling basis and strive to provide you with a decision within a month of receiving your submission.
In addition to our call for submissions, we are accepting applications for editorial board members interested in all genres, as well as web design and outreach/social media. Please click here to apply.
