Andrea Akinola graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Political Science and Education Studies. Her interests include educational equity, racial justice, and intersectional activism. In addition to serving on the Student Advisory Board of the Holder Initiative, Andrea worked with Columbia’s Office of Multicultural Affairs as a student facilitator for the Under1Roof and ROOTED programs to create campus dialogues on topics related to identity and inclusion. She was also a college mentor to high school students at the Double Discovery Center, the Secretary for the Upsilon Phi chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and the former Vice President of Columbia Women in Law and Politics. In the past, Andrea has worked for the Alliance for Quality Education New York and interned with the Corporate Social Responsibility department at Sidley Austin LLP. Andrea is passionate about social justice and hopes to pursue a career in civil rights law to help improve the lives of those from marginalized communities. In the fall of 2022, Andrea is excited to become an English Teaching Assistant in Spain as a Fulbright scholar.
