Mark Torres is a senior in Columbia College from Edinburg, TX pursuing a B.A. in political science. He recently obtained his B.S. in Operations Research from Columbia School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His interests include educational equity, U.S-Latin America relations, monetary policy, and veteran affairs/military justice reform. He is also interested in the intersection of data and political polling. With his engineering background, he has helped attorney general candidates in battleground states to implement campaign strategies through analyzing polling data as an intern for the Democratic Association of Attorney Generals (DAGA). Another political experience includes being a congressional intern for Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15). On campus, Mark is involved in Residential Life as a Residential Assistant in East Campus, Columbia Catholic Ministry as Liturgy Chair, the Roosevelt Institute as a member of the Education policy center, and Columbia Political Review as a guest writer. For fun, Mark enjoys staying active whether it be running, getting in a long workout, or hiking/climbing.
